23rd Aug 08 - EPL Saturday Tips!

Hello fellow punters, its EPL Saturday again! I'm can't wait for the first match to kick off. Time for soccer, beer and money making! Let us see the best tips for the matches on Saturday -

Newcastle vs Bolton (0 : 1/2)
The Magpies looks good last week against Champions Man United. The signing of defender Fabricio Coloccini has seemed to solve Newcastle's past defensive woes and Jonas Gutierrez pace and skill troubled Man United's defense the whole of 90 minutes. There's no player of Ferdinand or Vidic calibre in Bolton and I'm sure Gutierrez will be able to open his account for the Magpies if he performs like he did last week. Another boost to Newcastle would be Owen's return to fitness after shaking off a calf-injury. As for Bolton, their record signing Johan Elmander looks to spearhead the attack. Bolton looked good winning newly promoted side Stoke last week, however, its Stoke and Stoke is no Magpies.

Verdict - Take the Magpies to soar at their home turf.

Stoke vs Aston Villa (o : 3/4)
Phycial presence of John Carew, speed and trickery of Ashley Young and deadly finishing of Agbonlahor. Throw in want-away Barry pulling the strings in midfield, I see a side capable of pushing for the Top 4. Enough said. Point is, the Villians will win.

Verdict - Villian win!

West Brom vs Everton (0 : 0)
Not for Arsenal's wasteful finishing last week, West Brom would have lost by a greater margin. If not for Ooijer's extra time goal, Everton would have share the spoils. Everton has quite a few members suffering from injuries and with no success in the transfer market, they look short of manpower. However, their first team of new sensation Jose Baxter, Leon Osman, Arteta and Yakubu should be enough to overcome West Brom. The usually water-tight defense of Everton was breeched three times last week, but i firmly believe it is a one off matter. Everton's experienced back four consisting of Tony Hibbert, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines should hold West Brom at bay.

Verdict - Toffees to win to by a small margin.

Fulham vs Arsenal (3/4 : 0)
Opening match of 2-1 lost against newly promoted Hull underline Fulham's leaky defense. If Hull can put 2 past Fulham, I don't see how Arsenal wouldn't. Arsenal got a boost ahead of the match as Samir Nasri shook off a thigh problem and Alexander Song is back into contention after his return from the Olympic Games. Robin Van Persie looked good for his country over the international friendly where he scored a splendid goal. Count on him to score his first goal tonight against Fulham and Adebayor to open his account too.

Verdict - Arsenal to win, without a doubt.
